The two-day event Welcome to the Treasuredome presents exciting, beautiful films and sonic art made by UK-based artists, and features Borders, Unto the Edges, a performance by internationally acclaimed artistScanner on Friday evening. Other wonders of the Treasuredome include a special programme of experimental animation from Animate Projects and a selection from Kerry Baldry’s artists’ touring film initiative, One Minute. Plus moving image artworks created for surround cinema, and evening VJ and music performances.
The exhibition features stunning timelapse from Chris Meigh-Andrews’ The Monument Project, re-imagined for surround cinema, plus 360 site-specific work created by Larisa Blazic, Derek Hart, Olga Koroleva and Minou Norouzi. The venue is the new ICCI 360 Arena, which will display audiovisual/moving image artwork via 5 projectors, with the screens arranged in a ‘seamless’ circle wrapped around the inside of a 21-metre diameter dome, and with surroundsound. The ICCI 360 Arena is a central element in the Maritime Mix – London 2012 Cultural Olympiad by the Sea programme, and will be sited on Weymouth seafront, on the forecourt of the Weymouth Pavilion Theatre Site and within close proximity to the Mainsail Bayside Festival and official broadcast and media centres.
